In addition to crime fighting focused on auto theft and organized crime, Gord has accomplished much on behalf of children and families. His focus on children has helped produce child victim-friendly court facilities and strict new child support laws. He has helped lead successful provincial and national efforts to strengthen child protection laws and fight sexual exploitation, launched the historic Family Choices five-year expansion of child care and an overhaul of child welfare called Changes for Children. He co-chairs the province’s AllAboard poverty reduction strategy. Gord also introduced “Let’s Make a Better Deal - Manitoba’s Plan for Stronger Consumer Protection”.
