Lord, we pray that you will guide Honourable Gregory
Selinger as he makes decisions daily for his province and family in St.
Boniface. As Premier we pray that you will give him wisdom and direction. Keep
Mr. Selinger and his family safe and give comfort when required. We ask this in
your loving name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
On October 19th, 2009, Greg Selinger became Manitoba’s 21st Premier.
Since then Greg has helped move Manitoba forward through a downturn in the global economy and a record-breaking flood, while building and improving our schools, hospitals and the services Manitoba families count on.
Greg was first elected as MLA for St. Boniface in 1999. He was re-elected in 2003, 2007 and again in 2011. He also serves as Minister of Federal-Provincial Relations, Minister responsible for the Skills Strategy, and as Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs.
Before becoming Premier, Greg was appointed by former Premier Gary Doer to the senior role of Minister of Finance where he balanced the province’s budget 10 years in a row.
Before being elected an MLA , Greg was a Winnipeg city councillor, university educator and worked with several community development organizations.
Greg earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Queen’s University and a Ph.D from the London School of Economics.
Greg and his wife Claudette have two sons and live in St. Boniface.
