HON. DARYL REID - MLA FOR TRANSCONA - SPEAKER OF THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY

Jesus, thank you that you have raised up Daryl Reid to represent the people of Transcona. Over this next season we pray that you would give him an increased awareness of people’s needs across the province. Thank you for his compassion for people and we pray that you would use him in great ways to bless the province. Fill him with your joy and may he sense your presence in his life. In Jesus name, amen.

"Folks are moving back here, recognizing that Manitoba is a great place to live and to work and to raise a family.”

A third-generation resident of Transcona, Daryl understands the needs of working families. As an employee of CN Rail, Daryl began his career at the Transcona shops in 1969. Daryl works hard for a clean environment, accessible health care, equal education opportunities, fair taxes and jobs for all Manitobans.

In October 2011, Reid was elected speaker of the Legislative Assembly following the retirement of MLA George Hickes, who served as speaker for 12 years.

Daryl was first elected as an MLA in 1990 and was re-elected in 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011. He served as the chairperson for the Manitoba Government's Graduated Driver Licensing Task Force. He also served as the chairperson of the Government's 2020 Manitoba Transportation Task Force, and served for 12 years on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.
