Hon. Steve Ashton MLA - Thompson

Thank you Lord for the Hon. Steve Ashton. We lift him and his riding up to You today God and ask that you would bless this area that he serves. Thank You that he has made himself available to his province and for the sacrifice he makes in travel and time away from home. May he know that his efforts are noticed and appreciated. Please bless Steve and his family this summer with rest and relaxing times. In Your name we pray, Amen.

Steve was first elected to the Manitoba Legislature in 1981. He has been re-elected eight consecutive times. Before Premier Greg Selinger appointed Steve as the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, he served as the Minister of Conservation, the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister responsible for Emergency Measures, and in November 2003 he was named Minister of Water Stewardship, a department solely committed to water issues and the first such department to be created in Canada.
Steve is also the minister responsible for Emergency Measures, and has worked hard to protect homes and communities from last year’s historic flooding.
