MLA: Hon. Steve Ashton - Thompson

Father we are grateful for the many years of service MLA Hon. Steve Ashton has given to the province of Manitoba.  We know by his actions that he is committed to our province and it’s success.  Continue to fill him with wisdom and knowledge and to guide his words and direct his path.  Grant him new and creative ideas as he serves, Cover him with wise counsel of others who have walked the path he’s on.  God grant him courage, strength and joy.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
Steve was first elected to the Manitoba Legislature in 1981. He has been re-elected eight consecutive times. Before Premier Greg Selinger appointed Steve as the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, he served as the Minister of Conservation, the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister responsible for Emergency Measures, and in November 2003 he was named Minister of Water Stewardship, a department solely committed to water issues and the first such department to be created in Canada.
Steve is also the minister responsible for Emergency Measures, and has worked hard to protect homes and communities from last year’s historic flooding.
