SPEAKER OF THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY: HON. DARYL REID - MLA FOR TRANSCONA

Lord, we lift up MLA Hon Daryl Reid
We pray Daryl would sense Your love and goodness as he is about his work in his constituency of Transcona. May he feel encouraged as he serves the people of his community and of Manitoba. We pray that You would give him the strength to carryout the many tasks before him. Bless his family with good health and give them direction in all their future endeavours. Amen

"Folks are moving back here, recognizing that Manitoba is a great place to live and to work and to raise a family.”

A third-generation resident of Transcona, Daryl understands the needs of working families. As an employee of CN Rail, Daryl began his career at the Transcona shops in 1969. Daryl works hard for a clean environment, accessible health care, equal education opportunities, fair taxes and jobs for all Manitobans.

In October 2011, Reid was elected speaker of the Legislative Assembly following the retirement of MLA George Hickes, who served as speaker for 12 years.

Daryl was first elected as an MLA in 1990 and was re-elected in 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011. He served as the chairperson for the Manitoba Government's Graduated Driver Licensing Task Force. He also served as the chairperson of the Government's 2020 Manitoba Transportation Task Force, and served for 12 years on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.
