MLA: HON. FLOR MARCELINO - LOGAN

Heavenly Father, we pray for Flor Marcelino today and ask that she will be an individual of integrity, grace and conviction in the position of trust that she has been elected to. May she serve the province willingly and with a strong vision for the future and benefit of all Manitobans. We ask that you will give her the strength to endure all the pressure of her responsibilities, and that you would bless her with wisdom and discernment in all the decisions she is to make. Also, we pray Flor would have a strong and healthy family life and the courage to do what is right and beneficial for all Manitobans and the grace in doing it. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Flor was first elected in 2007, making history as the first woman of colour elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, and was re-elected as the MLA for Logan on October 4, 2011. In 2009 Flor was appointed Minister for Culture, Heritage, and Tourism, and on October 18, 2013 she was appointed by Premier Greg Selinger as Minister for Multiculturalism and Literacy.
Flor was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada in 1982 where she and her family have since made Winnipeg home. They first settled in the Weston community, one of the many vibrant neighbourhoods located in the Tyndall Park constituency.
Previously a small business owner and editor of The Philippine Times, she has also been an active community leader, having served with the Premier's Economic Advisory Council, Project Peacemakers, St. Stephen's-Broadway Foundation, and the Broadway Disciples United Church and its international affiliate, the Global Ministries Board. Flor was also a support staff member at Red River College for 17 years.
Flor is determined to work for and with her constituents to help build a brighter future for the residents of Logan.
